This is a treatment:

When the lesions appear and start to itch, use hydrogen peroxide. This shows that the skin is unusual with a layered look. It burns from the peroxide. Then use Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. Rub and rub with a thick layer all the lesions and surrounding skin. Small black specks appear almost magically. Lift them off with tissue. Then you start to feel but not see clear, hard, larger particles like sand. Lift them off with tissue also. Usually there are one of these for every 10 of the black ones. If you rub the skin long enough, long black strands start to appear (sometimes, short red) but there are only one or two of these. They are very thin and have a kinky look. If these are left on the skin for any time, they seem to curve to try to puncture the skin. Remove the thick Vaseline layer with tissue, wipe and examine your hands, and dispose of all tissue carefully. The itching will subside but clear welt-like bumps will remain and be painful for a while. Be diligent and religious with this treatment and the condition will subside until the next outbreak. If you do nothing, it will continue to spread relentlessly.

My suggested treatment was the result of trial and error over about 40 years. What a horrific condition! But there is some regularity to it. The symptoms start at the end of summer with an itchy bump on the abdomen right above a blood vessel. It then appears on the other side at about the same place. It then spreads over the whole surface and up toward the outer breasts and around the waist toward the back, if not controlled. The fact that it is on the lower abdomen makes treatment easier than it would be on the scalp, for instance, because the specks are easily seen. I failed to mention in my initial post that sometimes red specks appear after prolonged and vigorous rubbing. The sequence is as follows: many black specks of uniform size followed by a few "felt" clear grains followed by a couple of thin strands -- long black and short red -- followed by one or two red dots. The itching disappears almost immediately although the lesions still hurt.

I don't have Morgellons. I was at a Medical Conference and heard them speak about this and have never heard of it since. They were having improvements using a New found Glyconutrient. I suffered with Fibromyalgia for 25 years and medicine could only offer pain pills, sleeping pills and steroids, none of these really got to the root of my problem until my Doctor Dr. Charles Byron Smith MD who also suffered with Fibromyalgia went to a Continuing Education Conference and learned about a new Nutrient now taught in Med School now. Glycobiology, this is where they have found that our cells are covered with Glyco forms. There is a Medical Conference coming up October 6-7-8 in Houston area. I have been suffering from some type of skin disorder similar to what has been described as Morgellons. I have had it for almost 9 years now. I thought it was a fever blister on the left corner of my mouth, which eventually spread all over my chin. One would clear up and another would develop. I would pick until I got what I called a hair or "fiber" out and it would heal. But until I got whatever it was out of my sore it would not heal, it would only get bigger. What ever it was has taken most of my skin and muscle from the right side of my face along the jaw line and up to the corner of my mouth. I have a horrific scar. I have had several of these lesions on my legs, arms and abdomen. The one on my abdomen is still active, what I mean is it still itches (something awful) , serious pain (cannot wear tight clothing).

I have had all the tests in the world for everything from viruses, fungi, bacteria, biopsies with negative results for all.

But I must tell you it was after ranting and raving that someone find someone to do something, after being told a number of times to see a psychiatrist...funny thing was I was seeing one already. I am bi-polar, BUT it has nothing to do with my skin condition.

I am finally seeing some healing and I can only share with you who are affected what has finally worked for me. I take doxycycline 100mg twice a day, for the itching I take vitaril 50mg 4 times a day. I wash the lesions with hot soapy water and apply benedryl cream and neosporin mixed together. I then apply a non-fibrous telfa and secure it tightly with brown hypoallerginic tape. I leave it on for as long as the tape will stay or the itching gets intollerable. I have done all of the above for about 4 yrs. but the newest thing that has given me the best results is the benedryl cream. I don't know what affect it has on the lesions but I know this much I have had great improvement since I started using it. I was told hap-hasardly to put it on to help with the itcing and I did and have had positive results.

I collected my fibers and hairs in a small plastic bag and took them to doctor after doctor to only get ignored, they did not want to take the time to see them. Finally the last doctor I saw did look at them under a microscope and confirmed with me they were hairs and some kind of unknown fibers.

I hope that I have been of some help to someone out there! Just know this I am just happy to know that I am not the only one. I would not wish this on my worst enemy, but it is good to know I am not alone. sincerely rose
