In Response to the Chris/William comments
![]()
| I don't know about Bohm's "active
information." My main focus is always to try to understand things from nature's
viewpoint. I don't think a single particle has any relative intelligence because a single
particle does not have any reference to the rest of it's universe. It doesn't know if
anything else is out there and can't know until it makes a connection of gravity. Under my
model, a single particle is just not useful until it begins making connections with other
particles, so it makes no sense to talk of the interlligence of a single particle.
However, as each particle begins making connections with other particles, there comes a
time when a choice in connections can arise, and at that point, we might could begin
discussing inteligence. If I were to define gravity for a layman in the simplest terms, I
might say the gravity merely represents the desire of each thing to know the rest of the
cosmos. In that respect, are we much different from that first particle that makes that
first connection?
The only way that information is exchanged in the real world is through the connections of gravity, so his "Quantum potential field" is just another name for gravity. I say that gravity is what brings all things together. Now is response to the Shawn/Jon comments: I feel like I have dropped in on some private argument. It seems to be a replay of the battle that has been waged between science and religion and I feel a very strong connection with both sides of this argument. The reason I have been writing in this group is because of the sweet spirit I sensed in Jeffery from his program and the sense that here is a group of people that can care about each other, even if they do have different ideas. I have studied science my entire life and love to understand what I see. I have seen many spiritual events in my life and they look real to me. I have seen science discover many truths and these also look real to me. So why has religion and science been so at odds, when both are looking for the truth, although from different perspectives. It just so happens that once I came upon the gravionic model, I discovered that it had room for both science and religion. My slogan could very well be "Bringing God to science and reality to religion." I must say that I agree with most every word that Jon has written in his/her very passionate response. I am a member of no organized religion, I am a Christian. : ) I profess Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior, but the most important job of a philosopher is to understand his/her assumptions and beliefs. Therefore, I view my religion as the way this human being best relates to the cosmos, but I don't necessarily think that everyone else should do the same, because diversity of opinions is critical for the survival of our species. And the wonderful thing about the gravionic model is that it has room for everybody. It not only improves the models that science can use to better understand and predict the world, but it also helps those that seek a more spiritual life to better understand how to achieve those goals. In fact, my model supports the concept of love as a fact of science. If you follow my arguments, I have explained how a universe starts with no order and that order increases over time. Thus life must be the continuation of that process of bringing order and intelligent self-aware life must have the job of supervising that increase in order. As an example, look at the planet Earth. 5 billion years ago, there was no life and little order. As life took hold (and I'm sorry that Jon is a creationist because I think that viewpoint negates the beauty of Gods natural laws) on our planet, the order increased as more and more life forms made new connections of gravity. Then from time to time meteorites hit the planet, killing off many species, but over time, the order always increases for the total system even though fluctuations always occur. But I think each of you would have to admit that the planet has more order now than it had when it started. So if the purpose of life is to bring more order to a universe then and self aware life to help that order, then love would be the bringing of more order. Now I will admit that the perception of order and true order may be different things, but our job on this planet is to find where we each fit in to the whole and to put into place as much order as we can. If I come up to you and spit in your face, then I decrease the order of both of our lives. You no longer trust me and building connections of truth between us would be hampered in all future meetings. But if I come up to you and hug you in the proper manner and give you energy and increase the connections of gravity between us, then that is loving and brings about many positive responses. So love is very real to me. What I want to do is to try to bridge this gulf that separates what I see as good people on both sides. They merely look at a problem from different viewpoints and proclaim each other wrong. I would merely stand in the middle and try to help each see that the truth they see radiates both ways and we should all work together for the benefit of mankind, no matter what our differences. I have more to say, but I will quit for now.
